Last year the patent of pretty much the Nike Air Mag as seen in the Back to the Future II movie was found online via Google Patents, comeplete with Nike legend Tinker Hatfield's name along side. Just today the Internetz got word of Nike having a secret invite only announcement tomorrow (c'mon where is my invite?) with a lot of hints from the BTTF trilogy. Now a few hours later we have this video of Marty McFly's closet from the Doc Emmett Brown's own YouTube channel created today. Do you think this is real? My bet is yes. But will we have to wait until 2015 for Nike to release them?
Oh and good luck getting a pair if that is how they are storing them.

Some of the best advice I've gotten recently was to buy some quality headphones and stop wasting money every 6 months on the $7.99 pair from Best Buy. Time had come to pick up a new pair but randomly online I began a convorsation with someone that works for a small headphone and accessory company called JLab Audio. I guess small is still pretty big considering they do sales in the millions(that would make EF tiny)..small compared to their competiton is probably a better example. Long story short he liked what I do with EF and asked if I wanted to test a couple of their styles. Why yes, yes I would!
You could read me the most impressive spec sheet and I'll have no idea what you were talking about when it comes to stuff like this...as long as it sounds good..what more do I need? I ended up with one flashy pair in blue/yellow called the JBuds J4 and then slightly more subtle..but next level up, BOQARI Q1. I'd say the Q1 is my favorite of the two just because they look so classy black on silver and since they are a step up I can kinda tell a bit more quality in the sound. The instructions on these said to "burn them in." I hadn't ever even heard of "burning in" headphones to break them in, so I let them play for a day straight and it does make a difference.
I can say these will probably be the only headphones I need over the next few years. Great sound from each, I'm not muscially inclined so I couldn't tell you what really makes these better...other than they sound damn good and I'm pretty sure they'll sound that way for quite some time. Occaisionally I like to turn up the volume to 100(thats what they make hearing aids for) and with each pair zero sound was distorted. Both also came in a nice carry case and about 7 different earbud cushions that lets you choose the best fit..which is good cause we all know iPod buds never stay in. Looks like the J4 will be my beater as the "workout/running" pair while the Q1 gets pampered.
JLab has about 9 styles total in lots of colors and all really afforable. Checkout their website here: www.JLabAudio.com

If you've had some form of interest in shoes, especially Air Jordans then you probably can see part of your childhood in this music video for the song titled "WINGS" by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Emcee Macklemore looks back on his life as a kid starstruck by Air Jordan, his shoes and Nike's commercials, a perspective millions of kids had growing up, myself included. Without giving away the story completely it is easily concluded that those millions of shoes are just one thing. If you have yet to watch this video do so now...then keep reading.
You need Adobe Flash Player to view this content.
This videos recreation of a few Spike Lee Nike commercials and settings brings us back to when we first saw them ourselves. In conclusion though we are reminded, as people that really like shoes, something we forget....that one thing is they are just a pair of shoes. Not worth more than you paid or some other branded product driven person is willing to pay. There is nothing wrong with buying every pair you can, wearing them or letting them sit in your closet...but as a whole this "sneaker community" should take this video as a message and not let "the shoes" control their being or stand for who they are. Because in the end we will care way more about the product than the shoe companies ever cares about us.
Not so much "Is it the Shoes?" more like it is just shoes.

Weird is cool. Aside from shoes I like weird or just funny t-shirts. I also obsess trying to find and hear of other peoples business stories: how they got started, what they did to over come stuff, how they sold some $0.25 piece of plastic for $75 1 million times or just how they enjoy their life by living out their passion. So weird shirts + cool business story = my attention. Sometime in 2009 I came across the site: FurFaceBoy.com. Hilarious name for a t-shirt brand and the logo was one of those kids with the mysterious hair all over his body disease always on the front of the grocery store checkout flyers(the infamous one with weird stories escapes me right now, leave a comment if you know it). Right away added to my favorites list of clothing and blogs to follow.
Fast foward to this month I finally bought a FurFaceBoy t-shirt after nearly 2 years of following his blog. I could go on but I'll stop from boring you. Seriously if you ARE bored read his blog from 2009 to now, it is like a book. Genuine story of how someone has and is still working his way to make something out of his passion and creativity. Also a great example if you are thinking you want to create your own line of shirts or some kind of creative product. Don't copy him, just do what he has done....believed in himself. I can't agree more with this quote from his About page:
"I’m one to believe that as a kid, we all have a special talent / skill…a love for something. Whether it’s art, science, music, sports, cooking, writing, philosophy, mathematics, business, or whatever…it’s just a matter of constantly developing that love while ignoring everyone who doubts and makes fun of it.
Fur Face Boy is the brand for that kid that’s still in all of us, who grew up yet never let go of their love."
Truth. He even took time to look at my site and write a personal note. Just because of that he's got a customer for life.
The shirt is the "FFB A.B.A." It's kinda like an inside personal joke to me too because I worked for an A.B.A. team back in '09 and it was just horrible how it all turned out. If someone says "A.B.A."....I'd stay away! Grab your own or check out the rest of his FFB Series 5 shirts here: FurFaceBoy Online Shop

Seriously name a better color combo then black and neon green? Of course I'm biased but this combo makes a damn good colorway especially on sneakers, so I'm in love with these Bespoke AF1s by my friends at SneakHype.com. Back in February the guys went to New York for an appointment with Nike Sportswear at 21 Mercer and this low top AF1 with some black scaled leather and neon green Swooshes, tongues, sole and contrast stitching are the result. In all the Bespoke AF1s the past few years this is the first time I've seen a pair with this level of detail in the logo tongue tags and dubrets. They actually are reminiscent of one of my first ever customs that were an all black AF1 high with a painted green Swoosh circa 2003.

How many sneaker paintings have you seen? Tons I'm sure because I've seen quite a few myself but these water color paintings of classic Nikes by Lou Pimentel could be my favorite. He has only made 3 different shoes at this point and definitely needs to give some others a shot, I'd love to see a pair of AJ IIs in his perspective. Check them out at his blog linked below or buy the prints in his store. Let him know you'd like to see some others too.
Checkout the other sneakers at his blog. Buy the prints at his shop. Follow him on Twitter @LouPimentel.

It is time. Time to make this blog a blog. if you read some of my archives you'd see a majority of my posts just showcase a new shoe I created with an occasional post about a trip or something related to my brand. I'm going to give a bit more insight into my interests, things I find cool and more about my processes from here on out. I doubt I could find a better video to kick off this resurgence then the one below.
If you are into shoes at any level and have yet to hear about the Shoezeum by Jordan Geller watch this video put together by NiceKicks.com. The online sneaker world is connected in so many ways and familiar stories. Over the years I purchased numerous kicks off eBay from Jordan Geller that I eventually customized and sold all over the planet. Him sharing his story in this video of how he got started selling shoes sounds so similar to mine. Finding out about eBay, finding some shoes cheap and selling them online for more and repeating the process. Taking it to the next level by finding places with old stock, sales, discounts, or going out of business. I could not agree more with his thoughts on understanding what you love, finding a niche and turning it into your career.

The 5th time better be the charm. 5th time meaning in a row, how many times my Alma Mater Northwest Missouri State University's football team has made it to the Division II National Championship game in Florence, Alabama. Unfortunately the previous 4 trips have been losses. Once again we are playing rival Grand Valley State out of Michigan who we lost to in 2005 and 2006. We were able to beat Grand Valley in 2007 though in a matchup at home in Maryville, Missouri in the bitter cold on ESPN(you could barely makeout my friends and I on ESPN for a couple seconds) though we lost to Valdosta State from Georgia in the championship. Last year Minnesota-Duluth handed us our 4th straight loss. But once again the entire northwest region of Missouri and alumni across the country have high hopes for Coach Mel Tjeerdsma to bring another championship trophy to Maryville.
To show my support I decided to post up my Bearcat Nike Air Foce 1 custom shoes from years ago that have taken a beating through all the tailgating, rain in Alabama, victories at Arrowhead Stadium, parties galore, and all the bitter cold, ice, and snow Maryville has to offer. As well as a pair of Bearcat cleats that saw us beat rival Pittsburg State once again last year at Arrowhead Stadium.
B-E-A-R......C-A-T-S !!!!!!!! I wish I could make the trip to Alabama. Next year of course!
EDIT- Finally after 4 years of losing we are DII National Champions!

Bonus: Here is a couple articles that were the in school's News and Events and Northwest Missourian about Evolved-Footwear last year! 1 and 2

So this little project was really nothing like the description I posted a bit earlier, I wrote that just to throw off a friend. I actually created this painting for that friends video editing brand for his birthday. Soon it will be in his new home office. Check out his website: MTVIDYO.com
But I'd love to do a design for other companies or brands as well so feel free to email me at evolvedfootwear@comcast.net if you are interested.

You could say I'm easily influenced, well at least when it comes to reading books on the topic of business. After two blogs that I frequent: TheHundreds clothing brand and JoshSpear mentioned that they were in a newly released book I was sold. Titled "UpStarts" by Donna Fenn its about how Generation Y is full of entreprenuers and their stories. A quick trip to Amazon.com, I was again easily influenced by the "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" presentation and decided to order "The Knack" as well.
Good thing Barnes and Noble sucks cause I paid $27 shipped for the two that would have been $50+ in person.
I want to be in another book.

After meeting a person last Tuesday we got to talking about what each of us do. They mentioned that they thought about having their logo painted for display in their office building. I said "Of course I could make that for you and have it done this week". I don't plan on this being the last project like this so if you are interested in having your company or brand logo "creatively recreated" on a canvas with paint or another medium shoot me an email: evolvedfootwear@comcast.net

Earlier this week a little care package from Oakley came in the mail courtesy of friend Kelley James, a rising musician out of USC. "Rising" may be an understatement as he has played in venues big and small all over the world the past few years that other people only get to dream about. His latest album comes out next week and guaranteed ladies you will love his music and guys if you do not your just in denial or your girlfriend will because he has played at over 100 college sororities all over the country on his Sorority Tour with a growing female fan base (Thats what I need to work on for EF).
I really can not thank Kelley enough. I expected 1 pair of Oakley's and maybe a shirt. Not three of each including: 1 pair of Oakley Frogskins in matte/clear grey, 2nd pair of Oakley Polarized Frogskins in polished rootbeer/bronze, a pair of Oakley Jupiters in black matte/grey, and finally three nice Oakley t-shirts.
Part of me says to take one of the Frogskins and give them the Oakley Hand Crafted Arist Series treament that Oakley released last year but the other part says they are fine as is. Either way be on the lookout for a Kelley James edition pair of Evolved Footwear custom kicks in the near future. As well don't forget to check out Kelley's work at his MySpace, website, or Itunes this Tuesday.

Like I said I'm trying to make this a more personal blog not soley about Evolved Footwear, but stuff that interests me as well. One site I check nearly 2 to 3 times a day is JackThreads.com. It is an invite only site that sells streetwear and shoes from brands like Clae, Alife, TheHundreds, Mishka, 10 Deep, Analog, Nixon watches, and many more at specially marked prices. Also known as much cheaper than retail. They have 2 to 3 new items everyday that you get updated via email. But the only way to sign up is getting an invite.
I have plenty of invites so either email me at evolvedfootwear@comcast.net or leave your email in the comments section using the email you will sign up with and I'll get you the access to some great deals I've been getting.
