My custom Nike Dunks make it into a painting.....

So a few days ago I came across this hand painted 8ft x 4ft canvas of 228 different pairs of Nike Dunk Highs by artist Simon Lee on Nikeskateboarding.org and eventually then it was seen on tons of other sneaker blogs. Even though it is a terrible blurry photo one pair in particular caught my attention. Second row from the left and fifth pair down. I thought to myself, "I think those are my Pooped On By Pigeons Dunk Custom from 2007". So I zoomed in and sure enough that is what I see: orange and grey with the pigeon the heel and poop on the toe. I'd put money on it.

Why did I create this weird design?

2 summers ago I took the concept of "pigeon poop" that Jeff Staple had wished to use on the original Nike Dunk SB NYC Pigeon lows. It was a more of a tribute to Staple Design since I did not have Nike looking over the shoulder of my customizing as Mr. Staple did creating the actual release. Even though my custom was not my original design to me it is pretty funny and awesome to think something I created is now part of someone else's art project. Especially when it looks as though most all the other Dunks in the painting are pairs that actually released by Nike.

Trying to get a closeup, stay tuned!
