Some of the best advice I've gotten recently was to buy some quality headphones and stop wasting money every 6 months on the $7.99 pair from Best Buy. Time had come to pick up a new pair but randomly online I began a convorsation with someone that works for a small headphone and accessory company called JLab Audio. I guess small is still pretty big considering they do sales in the millions(that would make EF tiny)..small compared to their competiton is probably a better example. Long story short he liked what I do with EF and asked if I wanted to test a couple of their styles. Why yes, yes I would!
You could read me the most impressive spec sheet and I'll have no idea what you were talking about when it comes to stuff like this...as long as it sounds good..what more do I need? I ended up with one flashy pair in blue/yellow called the JBuds J4 and then slightly more subtle..but next level up, BOQARI Q1. I'd say the Q1 is my favorite of the two just because they look so classy black on silver and since they are a step up I can kinda tell a bit more quality in the sound. The instructions on these said to "burn them in." I hadn't ever even heard of "burning in" headphones to break them in, so I let them play for a day straight and it does make a difference.
I can say these will probably be the only headphones I need over the next few years. Great sound from each, I'm not muscially inclined so I couldn't tell you what really makes these better...other than they sound damn good and I'm pretty sure they'll sound that way for quite some time. Occaisionally I like to turn up the volume to 100(thats what they make hearing aids for) and with each pair zero sound was distorted. Both also came in a nice carry case and about 7 different earbud cushions that lets you choose the best fit..which is good cause we all know iPod buds never stay in. Looks like the J4 will be my beater as the "workout/running" pair while the Q1 gets pampered.
JLab has about 9 styles total in lots of colors and all really afforable. Checkout their website here: www.JLabAudio.com
