Whats good in San Francisco?

Posted at 03:19 PM on July 02, 2009 Comments comments (0)

Usually I do not make posts like this but I'm in the process of more updates to this so called blog to improve my readership and overall "online cred". So what's good in San Francisco? Why do I ask? Well because I'll be making a 1 week visit out there to the Golden State. I already have at least a couple great opportunities that will take place. But I'm still open to any suggestions.

So feel free to comment or email( evolvedfootwear@comcast.net) any tips or ideas for visiting SF. Otherwise check back in a few weeks to see how the trip went!

Denny's Lumberjack Slam Nike Dunks

These are a recent customer order for someone out in Massachusetts that are to be a gift in womens size 7. After deciding upon a theme we talked out different ideas about Denny's Restaurant and came up with the reciepients favorite meal, the Lumberjack Slam: which is made up of hashbrowns and 2 each of eggs, pancakes, toast, ham, sausage, and bacon. I threw in the navy blue toe and brown and red flannel pattern to accent the "lumberjack" theme. This is definitely a full plate....I could barely finish it when I went to do research for the design at my local Denny's.

Gourmet "Dropped Diablos" take the win!

It is now time to make a design for the 2nd round of the "Clash of the Customizers 2009". I'm considering this both a curse and a blessing, since I've got much to work on already but I love participating in the customizing community and the opportunity. In the battle I received 56.25% of the public votes and 100% of the judges' votes. No reason to complain. Look for the 2nd round pair next month. Only hint I'll give is its going to be another small brand that I've never used before.

Clash of the Customizers: Dropped Diablos

Posted at 03:44 PM on June 11, 2009 Comments comments (0)

This summer the online sneaker customizing community has been taking part in a tournament style battle ran by the good eye of Jest3R of 3R customs. After 11 first round battles, my pair is finally up against JBF Customs. Despite a few roadblocks I was happy with most of the design. As long as I'm in the contest I've promised myself I would at least try using a base shoe I've never used before. So to start out I got a hold of a pair of Gourmet Diablo's which I titled "Dropped Diablos".

The making of these took me back a few years. In the past I loved the freedom and creativity of making customs without any trademarked or obvious inspiration for a design. Usually the end product would be the result of trying out a new technique or a new idea I had to change the majority of the shoes aesthetics. I'll probably try following that same process more often as the making of these was really one of the reasons I began customizing over 8 years ago. Be sure to check them out in the 360 view at the Clash of the Customizers website.  Finally, come back in a few days to see if I make it to the 2nd round.

Reebok Pumps made for Jesse McCartney

Earlier this week I was contacted by the manager of recording artist Jesse McCartney to make a pair of custom sneakers for him to wear on his summer tour. So Tuesday night I was on the grind with very little sleep trying to get these Reebok Pumps in silver, blue, and red accented with blue lights finished and out to Jesse on the road for his first performance in Atlanta, GA.

A Nurse's Custom Nike Cortez

Evolved-Footwear is officially in the medical field, kind of. I recently finished these for a friend who happens to be a nurse taking care of patients on the daily. Featuring a little bit of the medical materials she uses every day: thermometer, stethoscope, needle, zebra, tie-dye, and smiley face band-aids finished off with couple medical logos.

Custom Incase Black Nylon Bookbag

Posted at 08:58 PM on May 12, 2009 Comments comments (1)

I've been trying out ideas on other products. Most recently I finished a bookbag for friend DJ Scoop. The bookbag brand, Incase, has worked with a slew of big names like Paul Rodriguez, DQM, HUF, Krink, Parra, and more. Coming out with real solid quality products from bags to macbook cases to ipod covers.  Though none of their special projects have been quite like what I ended up with. In daylight its a normal Incase nylon backpack, but at night its much more with edging in purple and blue lights that flash to the music.

"Evolved Footwear is surprisingly evolutionary"

My friend Madison recently gave EF a superb write up on her NY Thrifty Fashion blog. Great intro, middle, and end. Madison showed she definitely has a talent for writing.  A fun part of this entire fashion and business scene today is buidling connections with people you would hardly ever get the chance to otherwise. Its even better when you can see the same drive and determination reflected in those you connect with. With that said, I suggest you subscribe to her blog for great commentary on great topics in fashion, just so you can say "Oh I remember reading her words back when".....Click the photo to check it!

Looking for a sponsor?

I would like to know if there is a person, company, organization, group, etc. that would be willing to purchase base shoes for myself to customize for an upcoming custom contest. This could involve multiple pairs as the contest is a tournament. I have the first pair in mind that I would like to use.

This could be a great opportunity to promote your brand or company along with Evovled Footwear as the contest will definitely be receiving a lot of attention. As well at the end there will be an event for the shoes to be displayed. Finally you will be able to keep the shoes once the contest is over or you can sell them with the others in the charity auction(possible tax write-off?)
